Schools Workshops

“There are people who prefer to say ‘Yes’, and there are people who prefer to say ‘No’. Those who say ‘Yes’ are rewarded by the adventures they have, and those who say ‘No’ are rewarded by the safety they attain.”

THEATRESPORTS™ SCHOOL WORKSHOPS AND SHOWS

Impro Australia creates tailored workshops for primary & high school students to suit your classroom needs: including basic improvisation and teamwork skills, TheatreSports™ games training and specific projects such as the HSC Group Performance.

WORKSHOPS

INTRODUCTION TO IMPROVISATION (Recommended for Years 3 – 11)

Learn the basic skills and terminology of improvisation (accepting offers, extending them, yielding, creating a narrative) with specific exercises & games which the students can use in class & TheatreSports™ competitions.

THEATRESPORTS™ GAMES (Recommended for Years 5 – 11)

These workshops focus on specific skills including characterisation, style and genre, working with physical and verbal offers, creating environments and transitions. We can focus on whichever specific games you want, even the musical ones!

High School Drama Syllabus outcomes covered (in varying detail depending on the workshop & time) include:

STAGE 4: 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.1.3, 4.1.4, 4.2.1, 4.2.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.3

STAGE 5: 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.1.3, 5.1.4, 5.2.1, 5.2.3, 5.3.1, 5.3.3

STAGE 6: P1.1, P1.2, P1.3, P1.5, P1.6, P1.7, P1.8, P2.1, P2.3, P2.4, P2.5, P2.6, P3.1

YEAR 12 GROUP PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP (For Years 11 – 12)

This workshop helps HSC drama students work more effectively and efficiently on their group performance pieces (and avoid excessive conflict). It involves teaching “theme” brainstorming techniques, creating dramatic scene images, transitioning smoothly from one scene to the next, and using a process of improvising a variety of scenes rather than arguing over ideas. Groups who improvise together find the GP process a lot easier than those who don’t!

HSC Drama syllabus outcomes covered: H1.1, H1.2, H1.3, H1.3, H1.4, H1.8, H1.9, H2.1, H2.2, H2.4, H3.3, H3.5
